Macro sample 299

This date was carried out on a sample of leather from a leather bag that contained maize. The maize was thought to be contaminated so the leather was dated instead. This is considered to be the equivalent of a direct date on maize, since the maize was contained within the bag. The bag could be several years older than the maize contained therein (Gil 2002, 2003:297).
