Micro sample 468

Information

Seven maize starch grains were recovered from two edge ground cobbles (Artifact Nos 23 and 519) in Zone B, middle Block and 1S6E (Piperno et al. 2000:894, Table 1). These artifacts are very likely associated with this radiocarbon sample because of their stratigraphic position and their association with Monagrillo style ceramics--the earliest in Panama. The dated material was an associated sample of phytoliths collected from the surrounding sediments.
