Charred maize (likely cobs) mixed with wood charcoal and nut shells was recovered from an offering from the Stage 1 (earliest) burial under Mound C (Story and Valastro 1977: Table 1). This sample's age reported as: 1010±80, but is corrected for fractionation in this database using the formula from Reimer, Brown and Reimer (2004). To correct for fractionation, a δ13C value of -18.0 was estimated, midway between average the average values for wood, nut shells and maize.
