Caughnawaga is a Mohawk village site located approx. 1 km west of Fonda, New York, along a raised terrace overlooking the north bank of the Mohawk River. "The site was site was excavated over the course of the years from 1948 to 1956 by the Van Epps-Hartley Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association" (tDAR ID: 5483; http://core.tdar.org/project/5483; Snow 1995:431-443).
